This is the day. I have surgery at 5pm and can not eat or drink all day. I've got my eye on the Xanax bottle. It may help me chill until it's time to go to the hospital. Just one, not the whole bottle.
Yesterday I had lunch with two awesome women. Sue is an eight-year survivor and had the same surgery I'm having today. She has done very well. No recurrences. She has led breast cancer support groups and had many very helpful things to say. Mostly what helped to hear was that when this is all over life will go on and it will be behind me and I will be happy with the new version of my body. Her mother is a 16-year survivor and was lovely to have there for additional moral support.
